The Keeper was a very lovable "grandpa" sort of character that added to the show and we enjoyed the back story for Queen Clarion. It is extremely unusual that we enjoy any sequel x4 as much as the first, but this one surpassed the first by a mile!!!
Thus, my score may seem too high to some if they think I'm comparing it to Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, and the like. I am comparing it more to other animated features for children. Kids will love it But still i love this movie. Specially the climax, where it shows the original bonding of two sisters. The kiss shared between queen and lord milori was a nice shot. The whole new side of the fairy land.
All new peoples. All new fun and all new works, makes this movie very special. Children in my home are big fan of tinker bell. Animation is really good. I conclude a message from the movie is ,love cannot be kept apart, whether it is the love of sisters.
Tinker bell has a sister Periwinkle This movie deserves a watch and 9 stars. Tink gets a winter surprise by stefbuik I bought the Blu-Ray of "The Secret of the Wings" after having seen badly ripped tidbits of it. The tiny bits that I saw in a rather crappy quality made me wonder about the rest of the movie, and I decided to just buy the movie. Now, I have to admit that Disney's fairies are kind of a guilty pleasure for this grown-up geek. I know they are, basically, meant for kids, however, there are enough little jokes and visual gags that go over the heads of little ones, to entertain grown-ups too.
The color palette is gorgeous, atmospheric and translates very well to a smaller screen. The animation is very good. Some mo capping seems to have been used, but not consistently.
Frankly that's a bit of a shame. Kids won't notice, but this art-school drop-out noticed that the upper-torso movements, the little twitches that every human has, were captured in sheer perfection, and show the craft of the Disney animators.
However, walking animations, and animal animations were not very convincing and pulled me a bit out of the "immersion" The snow-owls were adequate, but the lynx was absolutely not.. Nit-picking, I know. And while I am at it, the "songs" were an uninspired atrocity, belted-out by some talentless, soulless The rest of the music was good, with nice little touches of classical pieces. Listen f. The story on its own was a nice adventure bit, with some really funny characters that were brought to joyful life by an excellent combo of very talented voice-actors and some big names at that..
All in all movies like this show that CGI doesn't have to be lifeless shiny stuff, and prove that in the hands of people that know what they are doing, can be just as charming and tugging at your heart-strings as drawn animation. On a side-note: What struck me, was an underlying message that girls can do technical stuff too. Tinkerbell designs, and builds a snow-maker with the help of the other girls.
The boys just deliver the parts. She "tinkers" and is still, undoubtedly a girl. That's an on-going theme in the Disney-fairy movies and shorts. It's not just a boy-thing, or a weird geek-thing". Charming with beautiful visuals by TheLittleSongbird I did enjoy the previous Tinkerbell films, so I watched Tinkerbell and the Secret of the Wings knowing what to expect and hoping it would be as good as the others.
And it was. From an adult standpoint, maybe the story is a touch too simplistic and some of the dialogue cheesy and I have to admit I did find them so at times. This said, the story is also cute and charming with a well-intentioned message, and the main target audience I doubt are going to care too much about what the dialogue is like.
I'd go as far to say that of the Tinkerbell movies, and all of them are well-animated in my opinion, Secret of the Wings is the loveliest from a visual standpoint. The soundtrack is sweet, breezy and unobtrusive, which suits the tone of the story very well. The characters are still likable and engaging, also ones that anybody in the right mindset will relate to.
And that is instead of going around saying that it's for "little girls", an irritating stereotype that helps to give the Tinkerbell movies and others movies an undeservedly, I feel, bad rap. They are also very well voiced, Timothy Dalton and Anjelica Huston the latter being one of my favourite actresses both do great jobs and gives older audiences to the main target audience at least one reason to watch without prejudice.
Overall, a charming and beautifully animated. An adult that liked this movie by rscampb I saw this on TV so I missed out on the sound and feel of a Theater viewing. And I think that that is a sad thing.
